South of Scotland Horse Trials will take place at Valleyfield Farm, Twynholm, DG6 4NH.
This will be the first British Eventing affiliated Horse Trial to run in Dumfries and Galloway since the 1990’s.
Where?
The sport of Eventing combines dressage, showjumping and cross country tests, all three phases contested by a rider on the same horse, hence “Horse Trials” in the event name.
What?
By affiliating the competition to British Eventing, the event will be run to the Gold Standard required by the governing body in Great Britain.
The cross country challenge is the unique selling point of the sport; South of Scotland Horse Trials will present a brand new course, designed by International rider and course builder Andrew Heffernan, using the challenging undulations of the Stewartry countryside. This is set to be the highlight of the competition.
The driving force behind this new event is the Clark family, Tom, Sarah and their daughter Nina, along with an enthusiastic local committee.
Having been involved in the sport for many years, it has always been an ambition of theirs to bring eventing back to the area.
